Solo
Michael is an acclaimed jazz/classical guitarist who presents a 70-minute show comprised of Classical 
Guitar repertoire (Albeniz, Tarrega, Villalobos, Bach, et al.) originals, Jazz & Popular standards (Autumn Leaves, Beatles, Bossa Novas, etc) and engaging impromptu improvisations. His style is eclectic and well informed so the show engages audiences at different stylistic levels. His presentation includes some story telling about the pieces.
His current concert programmes emphasise “Must Hear Music” presenting a cross-section of music for the classical guitar from many styles which is now rarely heard by Australian audiences. These programmes ensure a balance of music to inform, engage and please audiences of diverse backgrounds. Audiences are also able to hear music by the composer/performer with pre-performance discussion on the creative process for the pieces, their inspiration, style and technical challenges so that listeners can experience new music with informed thinking and readied ears!

Duos
FretBuzz
Formed in early 2017, this duo features a sonic exploration of the guitar duo using the 
traditional jazz archtop guitar and a 7 string classical, blending and contrasting these two guitar timbres and their myriad techniques to foment accord in a fresh interpretation of Jazz, Latin and Pop standards along with striking originals. Based in south east Queensland, the duo draws on decades of professional guitar playing, offering an exciting and engaging musical experience for cage culture, Jazz venues and festivals. Andrea Vocaturo hails from Italy and has studied in Australia and NYC and is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the Queensland Conservatory. A versatile and energetic player, Andrea’s melodies are colourful, full of character and grab the listener with some truly great playing. Michael Knopf is a multi-stylist and poly-genre musician who plays Classical and Jazz guitars in this duo. His cross-genre forays allows new guitar techniques to become an integral part of whatever he plays, so that even Monk’s tunes have a new sonic approach.

Michael Knopf Trio/Quartet
Michael Knopf Trio/Quartet is a modern hard core Jazz and Fusion ensemble featuring Queensland’s best Bass and Percussion Kit players. The music features originals and some standards played with high level improvisation.
